This listing is for a box of 12 Styrene (hard plastic) vintage Christmas ornaments from Bradford! They are in their original box, and quite hard to find as a full set in original box! The box still even has the original price sticker from S. Hershey & Son in Elizabethtown PA, that cost...

10 cents for the entire box! The box contains 12 Styrene (hard plastic) ornaments with the tag line Unbreakable! Although they are called unbreakable, over the years Styrene becomes brittle, so if dropped on a hard surface, they can crack.

After WWII, hard plastic was all the rage for toys and Christmas ornaments. (The box with the original price and Made in Massachusetts help to date them). They are called lanterns, and are quite geometric and Art Deco in their design! The are made to look like paper lanterns.

They all have their loops at the top, which is quite rare - people tend to leave the metal hooks attached from year to year. The hooks then rust, and cause the loops to deteriorate and break off.

BUT, this box has 12 pieces WITH their loops intact. They are a metallic silver with color bands. They have wonderful patina - the aged look things get over time! They are 2 7/8 tall each (to the top of their loops). One of the ornaments has wear to the metallic paint on the top, and all have slightly darkened and faded metallic paint.

I have wrapped each one in tissue paper - I recommend that you store them wrapped in tissue paper, as it will keep the paint and ornaments from deteriorating. The box is great, just missing the end on the top - see photo. The box has some damp staining, but is overall in good condition. It shows that the ornaments were made in the USA. In later years, Bradford ornaments were often made in Japan and Taiwan.

The box has the Bradford part number - 700. I have lots of vintage Christmas ornaments for sale, so take a look. The are made to look like paper lanterns which were really popular in the 1940's.

A few of the ornaments have wear to the metallic paint on the ends, and all have slightly darkened and faded metallic paint. I try and recycle packaging materials as much as I can.
